Ice Of Antarctica Can Be Towed |
|
Continent of Ice, The White Continent & Land Of Seals etc. are some known names for the continent at the southernmost tip of the Earth which is no other than Antarctica. According to an estimate, Antarctica consists of 75% of the freshwater & 91% of the glaciers in the whole world. Though man has succeeded in averting all the dangers & fulfilling his most requirements, still then he has not yet succeeded in averting the danger of “Global Warming” which is a major environmental issue. The people live in constant fear of drowning of the world by melting of the icebergs of Antarctica. Human being’s carelessness towards the environment has resulted in the overexploitation of nature which has resulted in the formation of deserts in some areas .The people are always in the mirageous condition & in search of water at every time. Once, Antarctica consisted of the thickest Ozone layer, but now all these have gone. It has become only a cold desert of ice which is in the danger of melting away at any moment & can destroy the mankind within a fraction of second. During the last ice age which lasted for 100 million years, then, Antarctica contained all the freshwater as well as glacial structures of this world & was full of the wildlife like seals, penguins etc. Day by day, the scenario went on changing. It is predicted that if the ice in Antarctica will melt, then the whole world will be drowned by the water level of 8 feet. As man cannot control the phenomenon of Global Warming, so man should try to utilize the ice of Antarctica in the best possible way by towing it to the dry & semi-arid regions of the world. |
